Redman - Red Gone Wild (2007)



It is his sixth solo effort and his first since 2001's Malpractice. Red Gone Wild features production from Erick Sermon, Timbaland, Scott Storch, Pete Rock, Rockwilder, DJ Clark Kent, and many others. The album had been delayed numerous times by Def Jam and Redman himself, with early promotion dating back to Ghostface Killah's 2004 album, The Pretty Toney Album. Red stated that he didn't want his album to get under promoted like recent albums from Method Man, Ghostface, and The Roots, which explained the long delay for the release of Red Gone Wild. He also stated that he was waiting for the right time to drop it in hip hop's fast changing landscape.

The first single was "Put It Down" (produced by Timbaland) with additional vocals by DJ Kool.

The Clash - Westway To the World



This efficient, enjoyable documentary charts the rise and fall of the British punk group the Clash, widely considered one of the greatest bands of all time. Checking in at a brisk 107 minutes, Westway to the World follows a fairly traditional format, interspersing talking-head interviews with band members, live concert clips, still photos, and other assorted footage. Directed by Don Letts, a friend of the band, the movie limns a portrait of a band that took its music and politics seriously. Westway to the World recounts the group's swift rise, as it broke through the formal and commercial limitations of punk -- only to fall apart, Behind the Music-style, as it was reaching the peak of its worldwide popularity. Although not as virtuosic as its subject, Westway to the World nonetheless offers an informative and entertaining look at one of history's most important bands. ~ Elbert Ventura, All Movie Guide

Don Letts' Westway to the World benefits from the visceral charge its subject provides. A straightforward account of the career of the Clash, the movie boasts exclusive interviews with the band's members, as well as thrilling concert footage of the band, whose best moments came before the advent of MTV. (Alas, none of the concert footage shows a song in its entirety.) The documentary touches on the milestones that hardcore fans already know about, but also offers a slew of interesting anecdotes that illuminate the band's art. The band members, now almost two decades removed from the maelstrom that they caused, come across as wise and thoughtful elder spokesmen. Although all the band members evince a sense of historical perspective and emanate regular-guy affability, the undoubted star of the show is lead singer and ideological point man Joe Strummer. Waxing eloquent about his band and its politics, Strummer shows not a little regret about the premature folding of the group because of personnel turmoil. Equally poignant is drummer Topper Headon's apology for his drug addiction, which he acknowledges was a factor in the decline and fall of the group. Revelatory and intriguing, Westway to the World is a must-see for Clash devotees, and an excellent primer for new converts.

End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones is a 2003 documentary about the highly influential punk rock band the Ramones. The film, produced and directed by Jim Fields and Michael Gramaglia, follows the band's history and 22 years of touring. The movie was generally well received by critics and fans alike, receiving a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was released on DVD August 9, 2005.

The film tells the story of the Ramones from their beginnings at CBGB's to their induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It includes commentary by Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Ramone, Joey Ramone, Marky Ramone, C.J. Ramone, Tommy Ramone, Richie Ramone, Elvis Ramone and others (including Joey's mother and brother). The DVD also features a video of Marky showing that he can play drums heavy metal style and challenging metal drummers to play in the style of the Ramones.

This DVD was certified platinum in Argentina 11.05.2005 selling more than 8.000 copies.
